A Slice of Leisure

In my Visual Rhetoric Class, we were tasked with creating a composition showing clear use of layers. When approaching this assignment, I knew I wanted to incorporate imagery from nature (i.e. the flowers and mountainscape). However, I also wanted to use a teacup image I found. I decided to combine images of nature with symbols of food and kitchenware. Nature is also associated with leisure, so I included some old school photos of a woman resting on the orange (which represents the sun) and a diver diving into the teacup. I finally added rays expanding from the sun, using various tints of the pink found in the flowers and the blue of the water. I realize this is sort of nonsensical, but I consider my style pretty abstract. I call this piece A Slice of Leisure.
